How Dodge and Chrysler became part of Brown's Elkader.
Brown's began in Guttenberg in 1964 and expanded to Elkader in 1981. The purchase of Dittmer Dodge in 1985 established the roots of the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram dealership serving Elkader today.

Brown's begins in Guttenberg
At age 24, Dave Brown opened the family's first dealership in Guttenberg. The store had one employee, a one-car showroom, and a three-car service department.
1981
Brown's expands to Elkader
Brown's established its Elkader location, beginning a new chapter for the family business in a second northeast Iowa community.
1985
Dittmer Dodge becomes part of Brown's
Brown's purchased Dittmer Dodge in Elkader from Jack Dittmer, an Elkader native and former Major League Baseball second baseman who played for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, and Detroit Tigers.

Chrysler and Plymouth are added
